We have found at this point there are two options to monitor your recording on a Mac machine.  The easiest solution is dependent on external hardware.  There are microphones on the market that allow you to monitor your recording while wearing headphones.  Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a USB microphone will work properly with your individual machine.

The free option is a bit of a workaround until we come up with a solution for our online recording system.  That being said, here's what you have to do:

(1) Login to SongSilo in a browser and click "My Silo" to manage your project.

(2) Open GarageBand (I know.. bear with us)

(3) Go to the "File" drop down menu and Create a new music project by clicking "New".

(4) Go to the "Track" drop down menu and create a new track by clicking "New Track..."

(5) When prompted, click the "Real Instrument" option then click "Create"

(6) Now to the right of the project window you will see the "Track Info" window.. at the bottom of that window, click the option next to "Monitor" and choose "On"..  Note: When you sing/play into your microphone you should be able to hear now.  If you hear a delay, GarageBand will correct this if you click the "Record" button (red circle button at the bottom of the window).

(7) Now if you click back to your browser where SongSilo is ready for recording you should be able to monitor your microphone input while you record in SongSilo.

(8)  When you have completed your recording and are happy with it you can Stop your recording in SongSilo and in GarageBand.  Click the "Save to Library" option on your record window in SongSilo to manage your new recording.  Stop and Erase the recording in GarageBand.

*It should be noted that any effect that you put on your instrument, in GarageBand, will will not apply to your SongSilo recording.
