Here are the steps:
(1) Login to SongSilo.
(2) Click "My Silo" button at the top of the screen.
(3) Once the Silo screen opens you need to click the "Create a New Project" button.. This will direct you to fill out several descriptive fields about your song. After you fill out the necessary fields, click the "Create" button at the bottom.
(4) Now from the "My Silo" screen you will see an empty track under the "Comments" fields. Click the "plus sign within the circle". This will allow you to Browse your computer using the "Choose File.." button (at the bottom of the screen) and find your Song file. Select the song file you want to sing with. The file should then be loaded into one of the tracks within your project. Press the "Play" button to test your song file loaded properly.
(5) Now click the "Record" button to the right of the comments field.
(6) The record window appears. At some point you will be prompted to Allow Access for the use of your Microphone. Click Allow and check Remember if the option exists. To record vocals with your existing recording you should wear headphones. We also recommend using a noise canceling microphone if you have one.. it gives a cleaner recording.
Once those are both plugged in, you can click the "Record & Play" button (the half circle and arrow button) to test how it's going to sound. Do a short recording test so you can make some tweaking. The tweaking may be that you need to adjust the volume of your recording. This option will be found under the settings button. Another adjustment may be the delay of your machine. The system default is 200 mls. We typically find that machines are anywhere between 0-200. Try 0 then click Play All. Try 100 click Play All and continue this process until you find it aligns properly. You will only need to do this once and then your setting will be saved for future use. Once you are happy.. go ahead and record. (You may have to set your track position bar back to the start and now click Record & Play again.)
(7) After you completed your recording click the "Stop Recording" button. You can click the "Play All" button to listen to your recording. Then click the "Save to Library" button when you are happy with it. This will now load your vocal recording into the next track in your project. The window remains open, ready for another recording. You can close it if you have nothing further to record.
(8) You will see you have editing options under each track to adjust volume and panning. You can move tracks, loop them, cut them, mute them, merge them.. etc. Save your work. You are welcome to share this privately with a group of friends, share it publicly, or keep it to yourself.
